Poetry that looks the way you
want
in ebooks and paperbacks
Poetry of all traditions but modern poetry in particular often relies for correct emphasis and interpretation by the reader on its typographical presentation.
When it comes to the printed page, publishers and poets (whether commissioned or self-published) often turn to customizable text editors such as ConTeXt, LaTeX, MiKTeX and teTex to allow the meaningful and elegant use of typography in conveying mood and context to the reader. But the special code that software introduces cannot be implemented in ebook readers and formats of any kind.
Fortunately, deft use of CSS and HTML5 (see Glossary) makes it possible to create Kindle and epub-format ebooks in which, within reasonable constraints, typographical content can be presented in a number of attractive ways.
